An update from one in Texas

There is havoc! There is commotion! There is violence! (That last one isn't true.) But it's cold, and the roads are icy.

The cold doesn't help my poor sleeping schedule, which has been outrageously skewed while I've been home. With the exception of 3 interruptions throughout the night, I slept from 9 pm last night to 4 pm today. I've only woken up to eat. I think I'm hibernating.

The big event of the morning was the party our smoke detectors had. They woke everything up in the house. (I guess that is a good thing). The two cats didn't know what to do to overcome the invisible assailant. Those hooligan detectors are old, so we couldn't force them off with the push of a button like some of the newer models. We took the willing ones down and pull the batteries out (rotating to release--or something like that). Some of the others were stubborn. We didn't like that. I was angry. They were ripped off the ceiling. Don't wake me from hibernation.

I went out once today to get replacement detectors. The roads were bad. The drivers were worse. It shouldn't be this cold in Texas.
